Palmoxylon (Palm)
Palm is an excellent material! Over the decades we have cut and finished many, many outstanding specimens. A few locations immediately come to mind when Palm is mentioned; Texas and Louisiana first and foremost, but California, Argentina and the Carolinas are not far behind.
We've recently imported a number of high quality, beautiful and showy Palm from Sumatra. These Palm were preserved in volcanic and sedimentary rocks in the Barison mountain range and are roughly 20 million years old. While all are different and show many different colors and characteristics, the one common denominator is that nearly all have been infused with Pyrite! The Pyrite adds golden spots, flecks and blotches and make an awesome study!
