- - -    purveyors of museum quality petrified wood - - -

Measuring 7 5/8" x 4 1/2" x 1/4", this stunning specimen weighs 218 grams or 7 5/8 ounces!

This plate was cut from, purportedly, the largest opal conc ever to come out of the Peacock Mine in Virgin Valley, Nevada.  The miner who, through either great skill or great luck, or perhaps a little of both, dug this stunning gemstone delivered it to our master craftsman ten years ago this coming August!

We have heard over the years that Virgin Valley opal is not stable, that it must be kept in water or it would decay and perish.  Well, this is proof positive that there is stable Virgin Valley opal, and it is stunning!!!

When originally tendered to the shop this huge ball of opal riddled petrified wood weighed in at nearly 7 pounds.  It was slabbed with precision and care, and this is a plate taken from near the center.  While it would clearly make many, many stunning pendants, rings, or what ever else a cabber might desire, we believe the true beauty is in the museum quality display!  The opal fires as it warms and on display under intense light this plate is nothing but brilliant!

$15,000
