Australia produces an assortment of petrified woods.  Ranging from the rare and beautiful Osmunda which is really not wood but a fern, to Pentoxylon which is a bundle of stems growing inside a common casing, to Podocarpus and shipworm riddled Peanut Wood, Australia offers many very special specimens.  In addition, conifer and hardwood trees are also found "Down Under."  Here are some examples of material from Australia:
